Job Summary

To independently supervise the afternoon shift Customer Service Center and 1800 assistant employees that fall under the clerical manager's responsibility.


Various HR responsibilities; including hiring, new employee orientation, medical leaves and employee discipline.

Timekeeping, including monitoring attendance records.

Maintain job descriptions.

In conjunction with the area manager, oversee the off-shift Customer Service Center and 1800 assistant employees, including weekend and holiday coverage.

Work closely with department staff (technologists, radiologists) and staff from other departments (ED, inpatient, outpatient, off-site) to develop work processes, the goal being timely study interpretation.

Supervise clerical staff.

Coach clerical, lead staff.

Participate in the resolution of employee complaints and grievances.

Revise and maintain office policies.

Facilitate implementation of new system changes.

Oversee institutional changes that involve clerical staff. 

Evaluate and discipline office staff, up to and including termination.

Writing and presenting employee evaluations.

Prepare special reports when requested by administration.

Respond to inquiries and complaints from the public and/or staff.

Initiate requests for repair to equipment and building issues.

Interact with various leaders within the department.

Attend meetings scheduled at various times.

Required Qualifications*

Must be able to multi-task and work independently.

Must have good communication skills both written and verbal.  Experience in performing office duties, including computer knowledge is necessary.

Desired Qualifications*

Bachelor Degree preferred. 

Experience in Radiology and/or University of Michigan Health Systems is preferred.

Experience with MiChart (Radiant) and McKesson (pacs) is preferred. 

Previous supervision or leadership experience is preferred.
