Job Summary

The Innovation and Social Entrepreneurship (ISE) program at the School of Public Health at the University of Michigan works with both faculty and students to transform ideas into real world innovations that have the capacity to create positive change. We are a small, but growing team at the School of Public Health, seeking a Project Coordinator. As we are ourselves a startup, this is an opportunity to build a position to serve both the organization and your own career objectives (develop expertise in: the Innovator’s Toolkit, Marketing and Communications, Event Planning and U-M systems). We are in search of a Project Coordinator who will enable our team to do a world of good through their time management and coordination skills as well as create a strategy around the various functions of the Innovation and Social Entrepreneurship Office. You are the key point person who enjoys connecting people and helping others achieve their goals. This job is fun, because the work is different every day.

Responsibilities*

  • Executing wonderful events
    • Manage and coordinate complex campus-wide events like the Innovation in Action competition (innovationinaction.umich.edu), coordinate training sessions (like mentorship hours, coding 101, learning expeditions, etc), and consultant presentations.
  • Managing day-to-day operations of the office including:
    • Comprehensive professional and administrative support to the directors, program managers, studio designers, and consultants.
    • Project management
    • Work with the Innovation Studio team to find, recruit, conduct user experience interviews, organize interview notes and synthesize for insights.
  • Coordinating engaging marketing materials and communications
    • Work closely with the Innovation in Action Program Manager to
      • Develop and execute an IIA marketing plan to recruit students from across the University of Michigan to participate in our annual innovation challenge. This will include outreach to students, colleagues across UM campus, faculty, alumni and donors.
      • Write and edit compelling content for website and newsletters.
      • Collect, review and manage IIA print materials and submit accurate pages to vendor for printing and on-time delivery for multiple IIA-related events, including the Finals.
    • Collaborate closely with SPH Marketing and Communication team to ensure awareness of Innovation and Social Entrepreneurship activities are shared and integrated into the overall SPH Marketing plan.
