Responsibilities*

Provide nursing care in the GI Specialty clinic in Taubman Center. Ability to float within the department, as needed.
Provide telephone triage, patient teaching, direct patient care, documentation with follow-up and coordination with ancillary services and related departments. 
Provide functional supervision to allied health staff. 
Assist with patient flow as necessary and appropriate. 
Maintain accurate and timely files of patients. 
Work with the physicians to develop and carry out clinical standards of care for various patient diagnoses.

Nursing Specific Info

Salary & Nursing Framework Level:
This UMPNC RN posting is posted as Nursing Framework LEVEL C (Includes B).
Actual Nursing Framework LEVEL and salary will be determined at time of hire.
Nursing Framework levels range from Level A to Level E.

Required qualifications must be met by the candidate in order to be interviewed and considered for the position. Posting may be filled after the initial 5-day posting period.

Positions less than 20 hours/week may be combined.

Required Qualifications*

Current Licensure to practice nursing in the State of Michigan. 
Minimum of two (2) years’ experience (within last five (5) years) caring for diverse adult medical specialty patient population   
Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills, as well as, interpersonal skills as evidenced by interviews, recent performance appraisals and reference feedback.  
Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize, problem solve, delegate effectively and to work with minimal supervision as evidenced by recent performance appraisals and reference feedback. 
Demonstrated computer proficiency. 
Demonstrated critical thinking skills in the provision of clinical care to patients.

Desired Qualifications*

RN experience working with GI patients
Three years’ recent experience (within the last 5 years) in an ambulatory care setting.  
Two years (within last 5 years) experience with electronic lab monitoring for patients on immunosuppressive medications. 
Demonstrated experience with IV infusion ordering and monitoring.

Work Schedule

Hours: 40 hours per week 
Shift: Days, Monday through Friday, flexibility required 
Location: Michigan Medicine-Ambulatory Care, Internal Medicine: Gastroenterology Clinic, Taubman Center
 
Note: This position is a float position within the IM/GI clinic at Taubman Center. 
 
All new employees will be expected to float to a designated unit(s) in times of low census.
