The Department of Afroamerican and African Studies at the University of Michigan invites applications for the position of tenure-track Assistant Professor in African-American Studies. This is a university-year appointment with an expected start date of September 1, 2018.
Interested applicants are required to hold a Ph.D. degree in a relevant humanities, social sciences, or interdisciplinary field prior to appointment. Candidates should be qualified to teach introductory and upper-level undergraduate courses, as well as graduate seminars that show both a breath of knowledge and specific areas of focus. The successful candidate will complement the strengths of current faculty in African-American Studies and beyond the department.
We are particularly interested in candidates whose research and teaching demonstrate intersectional or cross-disciplinary historical, cultural, or literary interests in the areas of feminist and gender studies, queer studies, and performance studies.
