Responsibilities*

Duties:
Provide patient focused quality care to pediatric hematology/oncology/bone marrow transplant patients and families.  Work as a nurse member of collaborative, multidisciplinary team.

The Infusion Registered Nurse is accountable for the delivery of direct patient care including patient education and the management of chemotherapy administration to pediatric hematology/oncology/bone marrow transplant, immune-hematologic disorder, and sickle cell anemia patient populations. The RN administers injections, IV hydration, blood products, chemotherapy and other treatments related to supportive care for this patient population, including supporting patient care during intrathecal procedures.

Nursing Specific Info

Salary & Nursing Framework Level:
This UMPNC RN posting is posted as Nursing Framework LEVEL C, includes B.
Actual Nursing Framework LEVEL and salary will be determined at time of hire.
Nursing Framework levels range from Level A to Level E.

Required qualifications must be met by the candidate in order to be interviewed and considered for the position. Posting may be filled after the initial 5-day posting period.

Positions less than 20 hours/week may be combined.

Required Qualifications*

A current licensure as a Registered Nurse to practice in the State of Michigan.

BCLS certified.

Two (2) or more years of recent Pediatric experience.

Two (2) or more years of recent Pediatric Hematology/Oncology/Bone Marrow Transplant experience.

Chemotherapy certification

Demonstrated ability to start peripheral IV access.

Demonstrated ability to practice independently, set goals, promote teamwork, cross cover within clinical area, coordinate and perform multiple activities and problem solve as measured by interview, references and performance evaluations.

Demonstrated leadership ability including initiative and creativity as evidenced by previous employment/reference.

Demonstrated ability to set and implement priorities, organize and delegate effectively and efficiently.

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and communicate well with others (including peers) as measured by interview, references and performance evaluations.

Demonstrated abilities in interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills and problem solving skills within all levels of the health care team, as evidenced by interviews, documentation, writing skills, and references.

Proven self-direction ability, including: initiative and creativity as evidenced by previous employment reference

NOTE:

Desired Qualifications*

BSN Preferred

Demonstrated ability to provide patient and family education specific to symptom management to the pediatric hematology oncology/bone marrow transplant population.

Recent ambulatory care experience.

Certification by OCN , CPHON.
 

 

Work Schedule

There are 2 RN positions available; looking to fill up to 1.6 FTE's, full or part-time.
Shift/Hours: Day shift; Monday thru Friday, days & hours may vary
* Location: C&W Hospital: 7th level Pediatric Cancer Infusion Clinic 

All new employees will be expected to float to a designated unit(s) in times of low census.
