Northville Health Center is seeking a full-time (1.0 FTE) Clinical Social Worker for their fast-paced primary and specialty care services that serve a patient population of pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients with medical and/or psychiatric diagnoses. The social worker will provide bio-psychosocial assessments, treatment and case management services to patients and their families, face-to-face and telephone contacts with patients and/or their families who have been referred for social work services by clinic providers, and brief psychotherapeutic interventions using evidence-based treatment modalities. This clinic heavily relies on the social worker to provide short-term psychotherapy, so a strong mental health background and excellent clinical practice skills are essential. Patient care will also include crisis intervention, safety planning, grief counseling, case management services and community referrals. This position requires efficient, accurate assessment of patient needs, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to quickly develop therapeutic relationships and treatment plans with a diverse patient population. Excellent organizational skills, proficiency with electronic health records, accurate and timely documentation, exercising independent decision-making and critical thinking skills, participation in team meetings, and the ability to effectively prioritize multiple competing tasks are all critical skills for success in this position. It is essential that the candidate be able to handle a large caseload and be able to provide high-level therapeutic interventions while also meeting basic tangible and concrete needs.
Social Worker MSW:
- A Master's degree (MSW) in social work from a school accredited by the Council of Social Work Education is required. Candidates must have a current clinical license (LMSW) to practice social work in the State of Michigan, with clinical certification. LLMSWs will not be considered for this position. Experience providing crisis intervention, grief counseling, case management and care coordination, community referrals, and brief evidence-based psychotherapeutic interventions with patients and their families, along with the ability to facilitate patient and family participation in appropriate health care decision making are required. The successful candidate must be flexible, adaptive, possess excellent communication skills, be able to work effectively with a multidisciplinary team, and able to access community resources.
Social Worker MSW Senior:
- The above requirements as well as advancement through the career ladder at the Expert or Clinical Scholar Level is required for placement in the Senior Classification
The ideal candidate will have significant behavioral health and medical social work experience, strong assessment skills, and be able to quickly establish therapeutic relationships with and relate well to a diverse population. Experience with Motivational Interviewing and with delivering evidence-based psychotherapies such as CBT, ACT, DBT, IPT, TF-CBT, etc. is desired. The ability to prioritize, work independently, and make sound clinical judgments in a variety of demanding situations is necessary; critical decision making, excellent assessments, effective brief interventions, and multi-tasking are only several of the advanced skills required for success in this position. Certification by the Academy of Certified Social Workers (ACSW) is desirable.
This is a 40-hour (1.0 FTE) position with weekday hours from 8:00-4:30 or 8:30-5:00. Some schedule flexibility may be required. This position will report to the Social Work Department with matrix reporting to the Northville Health Center Clinic Manager and Medical Director.
This position may be underfilled at a lower classification depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
