CRLT is seeking an experienced Event Planner to contribute to our mission of advancing the culture of teaching at U-M, CRLT collaborates with offices across the campus to offer events large and small that bring together faculty, graduate students, and administrators, and we provide web and print resources that are used extensively both at U-M and at campuses across the country. This is an exciting opportunity for an engaged individual to become part of a highly innovative and collaborative team making a difference in the U-M teaching community.
The responsibilities for the position include:
- Concurrently planning, organizing, and tracking details for multiple events of varying size and complexity (10-350 participants);
- Coordinating and implementing logistics related to venue and A-V, publicity, and catering;
- Preparing and archiving program materials, assisting with evaluations of programs, and web-based data processing after events;
- Review invoices for payment and assisting in budget projections for future programs;
- Providing occasional back-up for front office reception
Supervision is received from the Conference and Event Manager.
A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; at least 1-3 years of increasingly responsible office experience; impeccable communication skills across varying modes and styles of communication; top-notch proofreading skills; extraordinary organizational skills for managing projects; demonstrated excellence in customer service with attention to detail and follow-through; ability to handle multiple projects for multiple supervisors; ability to set priorities and take initiative, while keeping project leads in the loop; ability to work well with executive office staff, international visitors, faculty, and administrative staff; availability to staff occasional events before 8 a.m. or after 5 p.m. on weekdays or on Saturdays (advance notice of anticipated overtime will be provided, and when practical, work schedule will be adjusted to keep overtime to a minimum); excellent computer skills including proficiancy with Microsoft Office and Excel, familiarity with InDesign, Photoshop and coding in HTML; service orientation and willingness to do various levels and kinds of support tasks.
Orientation to picking up new software skills and figuring out how to achieve desired results; experience with web-based data processing, ideally on a Drupal platform; familiarity with University policies and procedures.
40 hours/week, including occasional evening and weekend hours
