Job Summary

The Open Storage Research Infrastructure project (OSiRIS) is looking for an individual with strong technical and programming skills to contribute to our goal of enabling scientific data collaboration.  Our project leverages Ceph to build large-scale scientific data storage infrastructure which includes the need to integrate authentication and metadata infrastructure that will make our system easy to use for scientists at any institution.  Our typical workflow is focused around agility, collaboration, and a 'dev-ops' approach. 

Responsibilities*

As directed, participate in conducting analysis, design and implementation of computer based information systems to meet specific design requirements and specifications.  Use strong technical and programming skills to contribute to The Open Storage Research Infrastructure project (OSiRIS) goal of enabling scientific data collaboration.  Our project leverages Ceph to build large-scale scientific data storage infrastructure which includes the need to integrate authentication and metadata infrastructure that will make our system easy to use for scientists at any institution.  Our typical workflow is focused around agility, collaboration and a 'dev-ops' approach.  Extensive experience with Linux, Python, C, or other languages as well as related workflow tools such as git. 

The job will focus on integration projects:  writing extensions or glue services to integrate CephFS client authorization and posix semantics with OSiRIS users, and writing plugins or glue services to provision Ceph services and/or authorization from Internet2 COmanage/Grouper or directly from LDAP information.  Ideally the individual we hire can take the lead on researching and if necessary coming up with creative solutions to these issues.  The OSiRIS website has more information about our project:  http://www.osris.org

Required Qualifications*

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related field or equivalent experience. 1 to 2 years systems analysis/programming activities in a business or academic environment. 

An ideal candidate will at a minimum have extensive experience with Linux, Python, C, or other languages as well as related workflow tools such as git.  Also desirable is more specific experience with Ceph, AAA components/protocols including LDAP, SAML, OAuth, and Puppet configuration management.  

Additional Information

This is a one year term limited appointment, with possibility of renewal.
