Professor Peter Tessier is accepting applications for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow position in his laboratory in pharmaceutical sciences/chemical engineering. This project involves the generation of new imaging agents for detecting misfolded protein (tau) aggregates in Alzheimer's disease. The goal is to generate libraries of small affinity peptides (knottins) on the surface of yeast cells and screen them for rare peptide variants that recognize misfolded (aggregated) tau with conformational and sequence specificity. This project also involves using these novel agents for detecting misfolded tau conformers in brain tissues and in Alzheimer's animal models. This project is in collaboration with Jennifer Cochran (Bioengineering) and Mehrdad Shamloo (Medicine) at Stanford.
