Job Summary

Michigan Medicine Human Resources Solutions Center (HRSC) is a customer service organization focused on providing impactful Human Resources expertise and solutions through friendly, reliable and timely services. We are seeking to hire a temporary Human Resources Specialist to support the General Inquiries Team with answering and triaging incoming calls and assist with other HR related processes as assigned. This position offers an exciting opportunity to motiviated candidates interested in gaining entry level experience in Human Resources. A cover letter and resume are required for consideration for this position. Respond to incoming calls from faculty, staff, prospective employees 
Document incoming inquiries into a case management system
• Assist customers with basic questions/issues relating to Employment, Onboarding, FMLA/Leave and HR policy
Actively listen and ask probing questions to assist in answering/resolving issues
Escalate and triage questions to the appropriate HR Specialty team
• Other general HR duties as assigned

Required Qualifications*

Bachelors Degree in related field or 2 years equivalent experience 
Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
Pleasant, patient and friendly attitude 
Possess a strong work ethic and team player mentality
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information

Desired Qualifications*

Prior work experience in healthcare 
Familiarity with administrative processes, procedures, and systems at UMHS.
Knowledge of M-Pathways (PeopleSoft) and reporting tools (e.g., Business Objects)
Knowledge of process improvement and lean concepts

Work Schedule

Monday through Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm
