Job Summary

The Program Manager, Resiliency and Well-being Services, will serve as lead, partner with other key institutional resources, and provide guidance in the development and implementation of population-wide resiliency and mental and emotional well-being strategies for the University of Michigan and Michigan Medicine faculty and staff. This individual will be based in the Office of Counseling and Workplace Resilience within Michigan Medicine, with a direct reporting relationship to the Director, and will collaborate closely with MHealthy leadership in the planning and delivery of such services to UM faculty and staff.

Responsibilities*

Provide direct preventive and proactive psycho-educational outreach and consultation to UM faculty and staff, focused on supporting a thriving workforce

Serve as an expert resource and practitioner in leveraging current research to inform evidence-based and best practice strategies and interventions in the following topic areas:

The psychologically healthy workplace (organizational influence)

Stress management and resiliency (especially caregiver resilience)

Mind-body interventions

Coping with stress

Compassion fatigue

Burnout prevention

Trauma-related psychological disorders – acute stress disorder/PTSD/vicarious trauma

 

Partner strategically with the MHealthy leadership team and other UM experts to move the University and Michigan Medicine forward in being a leader in creating a positive, safe and thriving workplace

 

Work collaboratively with FASAP, EAP, MHealthy leadership and other key stakeholders and partners to develop and launch a business plan for addressing burnout, resiliency, depression, anxiety and mood disorders in the workplace, including both individual and organizational strategies

 

Identify key partners across the University with whom to partner to maximize impact of interventions

 

Liaise with other MHealthy team members to incorporate mind body and stress management content and activities into other programmatic efforts

 

Work the with the MHealthy evaluation team to assess the effectiveness of our stress management programs and services; determine metrics and processes for evaluation

 

Draft articles, reports and publications related to mental health in the workplace

 

Partner with MHealthy Communications team to develop and deliver an annual marketing plan for the enhancement of individual and organizational resiliency

Hire, train, supervise and manage a cadre of guest speakers and teachers to provide stress management and resiliency programming to UM faculty and staff

Required Qualifications*

Master’s degree or higher in a mental health or health behavior field

 

Demonstrated and thorough knowledge of the evidence around causes and sources of stress and evidence-based stress reduction methods

 

Significant experience in teaching and coaching groups and individuals in stress management and resiliency

 

Demonstrated experience in building collaborative relationships and influencing organizational culture

 

Demonstrated content expertise in trauma, critical incident trauma, crisis debriefing, interpersonal process groups (balint groups)

 

Demonstrated experience in designing, coordinating and implementing workplace mental health programs

 

Experience in effectively implementing mind-body interventions

 

Skilled in group facilitation

 

Excellent communication skills

 

Experience with coaching focused on emotional intelligence and influencing skills

 

Experience in public speaking

 

Thorough understanding of organizational psychology, positive psychology, population-based interventions and healthy behavior change theories

 

Knowledge and implementation of evidence-based mental and emotional health assessments

 

Knowledge of health inequities, social determinants of health and the specific health needs of vulnerable or at-risk populations

Desired Qualifications*

PhD or MD in a mental health, organizational development, or a related health field

 

Knowledge and experience in working with a University or Health System population

 

Experience in working in organizational development

 

Significant knowledge of and experience in treatment modalities around trauma-related psychological disorders (acute stress disorder/PTSD/vicarious trauma)
