Peer Facilitators (PFs) serve as upper-class peer mentors to students enrolled in UNV 100 "First Year Experience" courses. Peer Facilitators will work closely with faculty members teachng the various sections of UNV 100 and with the Coordinator for General Education to support the First Year Experience course. Peer Facilitators will help introduce new students to the university as a place of higher learning emphasizing the importance of the university's general education program. Peer Facilitators will serve as an academic role model and educational coach both inside and outside of the classroom encouraging students to take responsibility for their educational success. While Peer Facilitators may offer constructive criticism regarding student work, Peer Facilitators are NOT teaching assistants and do not grade student performance.
University of Michigan-Flint student. University of Michigan-Flint faculty recommendation. Minimum GPA 2.50. Familiarity with campus resources. Attend UNV 100-01, Sites and Sounds of Africa, M/W 12:30 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. OR M/W 2:30 p.m. - 3:45 p.m.
Experience working with first year students. Experience working with faculty. Successful completion of UM-Flint's UNV 100.
