Responsibilities*

Direct, coordinate, and oversee the day-to-day operation of the Linen Distribution department including direct supervision of staff. This responsibility includes: scheduling, training, orientation, evaluation, mandatory requirements, delivery schedules, employee attendance, discipline, payroll and monitoring of effectiveness of employee work completion. Act as Laundry liaison with all customers to expedite and resolve service issues. Meet periodically with Nurse Managers to discuss inventory levels for unit specific use and make adjustments as required using financial analysis and actual usage information as data substantiation. Promote safety environment by ascertaining that employees are working within set guidelines for pushing and pulling loads as directed. Act as department representative at daily institutional Safety Huddles, report service related issues to Director and follow up on correction measures to respond to any safety issues that are linen related. Maintain the overall responsibility for institutional Lab Coat Program including supervision of Lab Coat Room Attendant. Oversee and verify daily linen billing to users. Interface with primary partner, Environmental Services, for coordination of removal of soil linen from hospital on a timely basis. Oversight administrative responsibility for institutional Scrub Dispensing System including: purges, additions, deletions and vendor interface for operational problems. Direct Associate Supervisor's daily functions of interacting with customers and employees for the purpose of ensuring overall service level satisfaction. Conduct monthly staff meetings to provide feedback on operational as well as financial performance. Promote a working environment noted for effective cooperation and collaboration between programs, services and co-workers.

Required Qualifications*

Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent with some college or institutional courses a plus. A minimum of 3 years of supervisory or proven lead experience in an environment that requires logistics knowledge. Experience in direct supervision of at least 10 to 12 employees.

Desired Qualifications*

Knowledge of Michigan Medicine internal units and full knowledge of linen products. Previous supervisory experience in a union setting. Demonstrated knowledge of Michigan Medicine policies and procedures. Experience using common business software (ex. MS Office). Knowledge of standard practices, procedures. Knowledge of training and supervising techniques. Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions applicable to the work. Knowledge of labor relations and applicable AFSCME union contracts. Knowledge of equal employment opportunity policies and procedures. Ability to monitor and evaluate program and organizational performance in order to assess efficiency and effectiveness. Ability to maintain records and prepare reports.

Work Schedule

Work schedule is Tuesday through Saturday from 4:00 AM to 12:30 PM.
