Evaluate behavioral and academic functioning of the patient. Coordinating care from inpatient unit to school system. Advocating for supportive measures at school to ensure successful transition from inpatient unit to school
Provide feedback to multidisciplinary team on behaviors observed in classroom
Plan discharge by providing parents and receiving school personnel with the necessary information concerning the impact of the patient's medical condition on learning and social skill functioning
Provide recommendations to ensure appropriate education services in the receiving school
Facilitate relationship between the patient's parents and the school
Provide written evaluation to school personnel when needed
Write daily progress notes and information in electronic system
Master's degree in education or school social work or combination of education and experience is required
Minimum 3 year's school experience
Michigan Teaching Certificate is required
A minimum 3 year's of satisfactory special education teaching experience
Knowledge of the legal requirements and current interpretations of the Michigan Special Education Administrative Rules, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and the Americans Disability Act, particularly as they affect the due process rights of individuals with disabilities
Experience in administering and interpreting standardized educational tests
This position consists of a 40 hour per week appointment.
