Job Summary

The University of Michigan’s Information Assurance at Michigan Medicine (IA:MM) team is seeking interested candidates to fulfill a position for Business System Analyst Senior. This role will work within Business Analyst group within Michigan Medicine.

This position, as part of the academic medical center’s assurance program is part of the program office, reporting to the Michigan Medicine Chief Information Security Officer with oversight from the business analyst team lead. The goal is to be adaptive with the needs of a complex institution and help mature the cybersecurity capabilities so we are prepared to help protect Michigan Medicine in an increasingly threatened environment. This role entails data gathering, analysis, creative process development along with continuous improvements to ensure strategic initiatives are met with current and future technologies to safeguard sensitive data of the institution.

The successful applicant should be well versed in process development and analysis principles, goal oriented, proactive, with experience in project management. Competencies to innovate organizational change management, communicating and collaborating with all levels of staff, and have skill in articulating regulatory and technological characteristics throughout the institution. It is crucial the candidate have time management abilities both working well within a team and individually with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities*

Project Management and Support (30%)

  • Analysts will participate and influence investments associated program’s major initiatives
  • Provide input to the analysis, design, development or acquisition of capabilities used for meeting objectives
  • Communicating investments updates and progress reporting
  • Managing flow of information to stakeholders and users

Analysis and Reporting (55%)

  • Analysts will be expected to utilize reporting and analytics tools (i.e. Tableau, Splunk, Excel) in order to build advanced report for visualization that informs success to business decisions to all staff
  • Analyze design constraints, trade-offs and detailed system and security design, with consideration of lifecycle support.
  • Provide ongoing optimization and problem-solving support
  • Provide actionable recommendations based on data analysis and findings
  • Define, analyze and measure key performance indicators and key risk indicators to be used in determining return on cybersecurity investment
  • Formulates and defines system scope and objects through research and fact-finding combined with an understanding of applicable business system and industry requirements
  • Develop or modifies moderately complex information systems analysis of business and user needs and/or requirements
  • Synthesizing current information assurance trends and intelligence to support recommendations for actions within the organization
  • Revises existing logic difficulties, procedurally and systematically with methodical proactive approach to the business

Process Development (15%)

  • Analysts will provide process and capability gap analysis with the goal of producing solution recommendations in key areas of the academic medical centers information assurance program
  • Expanding or modifying current practices or processes to service new purposes and workflow in the security program
  • Develops or modifies complex information systems analysis of business and user needs

Required Qualifications*

Required Qualifications for Senior Level:

  • A bachelor’s degree in business administration, information systems or related field, or relevant comparable experience
  • Demonstrated solid project management skills with at least 3 years of experience
  • Exhibit proficient analytical skills
  • Experience with customer relationship management skills and people-centric customer service delivery.
  • Very strong relationship and consensus building skills
  • Proficient with business process, data flow mapping, and business intelligence
  • Ability to gather and document complex business processes
  • Strong knowledge of system analysis and workflow management
  • Proven ability to provide superb customer service experience
  • Positive and lean approach to problem solving and ability to develop technical and business strategies
  • Solid knowledge in methodical problem-solving skills (Six Sigma, Lean, etc.)

Required Qualifications for Intermediate Level:

  • A bachelor’s degree in business administration, information systems, or related field, or comparable experience
  • Experience with customer relationship management skills
  • Sound relationship and consensus building skills
  • Solid with business process, data flow mapping, and business intelligence
  • Ability to document complex business system processes
  • Strong knowledge of system analysis and workflow management
  • Proven ability to provide solid customer service experience
  • Positive and lean approach to problem solving and ability to develop technical and business strategies
  • Knowledge of methodical problem-solving skills (Six Sigma, Lean, etc.)
  • Willingness to learn new concepts and technologies to assume greater responsibility in the future

Desired Qualifications*

  • Master’s degree information assurance, information systems, business administration or related field
  • Certification in service delivery frameworks
  • Ability to interpret and analyze complex business/research/clinical/educational/technical processes and what impacts, financial and/or operational, it has to the overall business function
  • Ability to provide coaching and constructive feedback to other team members
  • Background or knowledge of Cybersecurity frameworks and/or principles
  • Proficient with testing and reviewing systems of work for effectiveness and efficiency and recommending sound course of action for improvements
  • Detailed understanding of various regulatory and compliance requirements such as PCI, HIPAA, FERPA, CUI, and FISMA
  • Self-starter with aspirations of continuously learning and applying new knowledge into effort to support the IA program.
