Seeking a Research Associate to coordinate two funded studies that involves the design, development and testing of a virtual reality intervention to assist transition age youth with autism or educationally-defined disabilities to improve their job interviewing skills. This is a full-time position.
Working with the Principal Investigator, the Research Associate will be responsible for coordinating the administrative and operational activities of each project. The Research Associate will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the projects and will be involved in conducting mental health screening and neuropsychological assessments with potential participants, and assisting with the delivery of the intervention to the students during school. The Research Associate will be responsible for using independent judgment and initiative in providing administrative support for the daily operations of the project, including: data entry, data analyses, scheduling, assisting with coordination of logistics for all project meetings, conferences, and activities; coordinating with institutional review boards, and other UM departments as well as performing structured clinical interviews to determine mental health disorders. All other duties as assigned. Some travel to participating schools in Washtenaw County and possibly Detroit will be required.
Previous experience in administering research projects and a Master’s Degree in Social Work or Psychology is required. Meticulous attention to detail and demonstrated ability to manage complex research projects is desired. Flexible and enthusiastic self-starter, capable of working with minimum supervision. Excellent oral and written communication skills. The candidate needs to have the ability to work in a highly multidisciplinary team. Computer literacy with proficiency in MS office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and basic knowledge of SPSS. The successful candidate will have at least three years of previous research experience and interest in conducting quantitative research including collecting, entering, and analyzing data as well as conducting research in community settings. Experience using REDCap or Qualtrics is preferred.
