Assume direct responsibility for establishing and maintaining aseptic environmental conditions for large areas within the Medical Center. Insure that all infection control, OSHA and JCAHO (Environment of Care) standards are met. Develop and maintain appropriate documentation for all regulatory compliance requirements. Plan, organize, direct and supervise custodial staff within the Medical Center environment. Interview, hire, train and evaluate performance of assigned staff. Analyze job requirements including staffing and equipment requirements. Respond constructively and professionally to service requests from patients, staff and visitors. Inspect equipment to insure proper use and maintenance. Directly provide training of staff in wide range of subjects including: mandatory OSHA training programs, such as Fire Safety, Right to Know, Blood-Borne Pathogens and General safety and Ergonomics, Quality Assurance, Employee Relations and Customer/Patient Relations. Demonstrate appropriate leadership skills.
Must have Supervisory experience. Excellent employee relations track record. Excellent communication, analytical and problem resolution skills. Must have a basic understanding of financial management practices and must have reasonable personal computer utilization skills.
Bachelor's Degree. Experience with JACHO audit process. Thorough knowledge of Total Quality Management principles and practices.Hospital Environmental Services quality assurance experience. Knowledge of University policies and procedures. Familiar with policies & procedures as they apply to environment of care standards.
