Job Summary

The Department of Natural Sciences in the College of Arts, Sciences, and Letters (CASL) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in microbiology.  Applicants must have a M.D. or Ph.D. in microbiology or a closely related field.  A completed Ph.D. is required at the time of appointment. Postdoctoral experience and experience teaching undergraduates are desirable.  Research areas of interest include but are not limited to host-microbe interactions, immunology (autoimmunity, tumor immunology, immune system genomics and basic immunological mechanisms), microbial pathogenesis, and clinical microbiology.  Faculty are expected to teach six courses per year, develop a research program with participation of undergraduates, publish in peer-reviewed journals, and solicit external funding.  Teaching responsibilities will likely include courses in principles of microbiology, virology, immunology, pathogenic microbiology and introductory molecular and cell biology.  Start-up funds, research space, and course-released time are available.
