Job Summary

Responsible for the day to day clerical support in outpatient clinics and the clinical administrative team at the Kellogg Eye Center Wall Street Clinic.

Responsibilities*

  • Triage and manage the Ophthalmology patient referrals generated from the Referral Work Queue.
  • Manage faculty schedules, including adjusting existing templates, adding new days and closing days.
  • Collaborate with technicians and other allied health staff to ensure proper coordination of services and contribution to patient satisfaction goals.
  • Provide information to patients regarding billing procedures.
  • Collect cash and credit card payments using established guidelines to determine patient pay portion and insurance portion.
  • Other duties as directed by supervisor.
  • Demonstrate understanding and compliance with University policies and KEC guiding principles that promote Caring, Teamwork, Integrity and Innovation.
  • Ensure that patients with urgent medical needs are scheduled in accordance with triage guidelines and clinic schedules adjusted for patient care and clinic flow purposes

Surgery Scheduling Responsibilities*

  • Work closely with clinical team and clinic coordinator on adherence to surgery scheduling procedures.
  • Manage phone calls from internal and external customers related to surgery.
  • Schedule patients for surgery and associated appointments, document surgery details, and communicate with interdisciplinary team.
  • Serve as a representative of the surgery scheduler team/role on various committees or workgroups as needed for standard of care and process improvement.

Required Qualifications*

  • High school diploma or GED, with 2 - 3 years of experience

  • Demonstrate skill in keyboarding, Excel, Word and Power Point applications

Desired Qualifications*

  • Associates Degree
  • Previous experience in a health care setting.
  • Experience or knowledge in the field of ophthalmology.
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, Power Point, Google Docs and other programs for reporting of metric data and communicating information.
  • Demonstrate understanding and compliance with University policies and KEC guiding principles that promote Caring, Teamwork, Integrity and Innovation.

*Monday-Friday
*Dependent on clinic operation hours
