Job Summary

The Division of Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics is seekiing a Research Technician Associate.  A cover letter and resume are required for consideration for this position; include the cover letter as the first page of your resume. Responsibilities*

This position:

  • Conducts research protocols with toddlers and preschool-aged children and mothers regarding childhood eating behavior “in the field,” in families’ homes and on campus.
  • Conduct research interviews with pediatricians regarding their practices and beliefs around childhood oebsity “in the field,” in pediatrician’s offices and on campus.
  • Support subject recruitment; interact with parents to administer questionnaires; discuss the protocol with parents and answer questions; interact with young children; perform data entry using Excel and Access; and potentially oversee undergraduate student assistants.
  • Conduct videotaped research protocols with toddlers (ages 2-3 years old) and mothers regarding infant feeding behavior and practices in families’ homes.
  • Conduct interviews with mothers and physicians.
  • Collect pre- and post-intervention questionnaire and anthropometric measures as part of a large, randomized controlled trial.
  • Assist with organization and maintenance of lab supplies and equipment.

These protocols require a flexible schedule and may occur in the morning, late afternoon and/or around dinnertime in communities up to 1.5 hours from Ann Arbor, and this position therefore requires availability outside of the typical 8am-5pm business hours (travel is compensated/transportation provided).  

Required Qualifications*

Bachelor's degree in psychology, public health or related field is required and 1 year of experience. This position requires great attention to detail, outstanding organizational skills, and the ability to communicate clearly and build rapport with study participants.    

 

Desired Qualifications*

One (1) to two (2) years of experience in psychology, public health, or a related field.  Experience working directly with low-income mothers and young children in preschool settings as well as home environments. Experience working with infants. Experience with data management using Excel and Access. Experience managing undergraduate students in a research setting. Experience with childhood eating behavior and obesity.
