Job Summary

The School of Public Health at the University of Michigan (UM-SPH) is a diverse learning community seeking to create and disseminate knowledge with the aim of preventing disease and promoting the health of populations worldwide. UM-SPH is consistently ranked among the nation’s leading schools of public health. We confer BA, BS, MPH, MHSA, MHI, MS and PhD degrees. We offer both residential and executive programs. We are composed of six departments and an undergraduate program.

The Admissions Coordinator will report directly to the Director of Student Affairs in the Office for Student Engagement and Practice (OSEP). Responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to, managing our MPH/MHSA application processing, lead coordination for large recruitment events, domestic travel for recruitment events, managing our Sales Force CRM system and relationship building with internal and external partners on behalf of the student experience. Occasional weekend or evening work is required throughout the year. Ideally, we are hoping to find a candidate who can start by early December, to allow for an overlap in training from our current Admissions Coordinator.


Admissions -Manage application processing flow and data for all SPH graduate and non-degree programs (non-Rackham), maintain suspense files, create and run admissions data reports using Business Objects, provide final review of admissions decisions, enter admissions decisions in MPathways and maintain our CAS WebAdmit system.  Manage the application imaging processing using ImageNow.  May support online evaluation of applications by departments as our WebAdmit liaison. Send official admissions communications to applicants.

Recruitment -Represent SPH at local and national recruitment events, meet regularly with prospective student to discuss graduate programs, career opportunities, and application requirements. Prepare presentations for recruitment panels. Presentations to prospective students.

Event planning- Lead in coordinating Fall Orientation and Prospective Student Day, and assistance with Admitted Student Day and school-wide symposium and graduation events.  Plan and execute event logistics, prepare budgets.

Customer Relations- Respond to admitted and prospective student inquiries and maintain admissions SalesForce system.

International Documentation- Process I-20’s for admitted international students for both graduate and undergraduate SPH programs. Verify authentication of funding documents, assess English requirements, data entry for I-20 records.  

Required Qualifications*

Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of relevant experience or equivalent, exceptional communication skills, experience working with confidential information, excellent attendance record, experience working with admissions data and record systems and with customer relations tools (CRM), excellent computer skills with high proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google product suite, and excellent organizational and interpersonal skills working with in a diverse team environment.

Desired Qualifications*

Master’s degree, knowledge of University of Michigan procedures and policies, high proficiency in M-Pathways Admissions, experience working with a professional CAS admission partner, use or management of Sales Force customer relations manager.
