Responsible for the day to day operations of a specialized laboratory within Pharmacology. Capable of managing all phases of a large, complex research project with the principal investigator (PI). The candidate will work directly with the PI on the development and the implementation of the research plan and development of research goals. Responsible for conduct and support of experiments, functioning as a specialist or technical expert on one or more phases of the project(s). Works with the PI to develop the necessary mathematical and/or computer models for analyzing experimental data. Expected to write significant portions of research proposals. Expected to act as liaison with outside agencies to acquire data and share research information. Expected to make formal presentations of research findings.
Contribution to Research Design:
Coordinates development of research goals and project design and procedure.
Coordinates analysis of research findings and communicate to sponsoring agency.
Provides technical assistance and supervision in equipment, design, construction, modification and maintenance. Function as subject specialist, needing little direction or review of work.
Expected to co-author research publications. May write independent articles and make formal presentations with or without the PI.
Consultant Work and Marketing:
Acts on behalf of the PI with other departments, programs and external agencies.
Expected to take a leadership position in the laboratory, assess the operations and make decisions about the direction and performance of the research work.
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- 8-10 years of related experience.
- It is expected that the candidate has recently published (within the past 1-2 years) at least 2 manuscripts as senior or primary author in their field.
- Significant experience with analytical approaches including mass spectrometry and electrochemistry is also required for further consideration.
- Master’s or Doctoral Degree preferred.
