The Custodial Sr Supervisor is responsible for managing the day-to-day custodial operations of a designated area within the Custodial & Grounds Services unit of Facilities and Operations. This position has direct responsibility for supervising 18-25 custodians in their area and to ensure the custodial staff are following the appropriate procedures.
Plan work activities and establish work schedules and staffing requirements using the OS1 Cleaning System standards.
Ensure policies and procedures are being followed correctly.
Resolve employee complaints and grievances, including the first step grievance.
Initiate disciplinary process including recommendation for discharge.
Maintain safety standards to assure compliance with the University, State and Federal codes and regulations.
Coordinate the flow of work or services between departments and assist in the resolution of inter-departmental operating problems.
Conduct Quality Assurance inspections on buildings and resolve issues.
Collaborate with facility managers to ensure customer satisfaction.
High school graduate/GED and 2 years of custodial related work experience, or an equivalent combination of college and related work experience.
Considerable knowledge of the methods, materials and equipment used in custodial operations and/or supervisory experience.
Experience working in a union environment, including knowledge of labor contract administration.
Demonstrated excellent communication skills.
Demonstrated knowledge of computer skills including Microsoft Office, Excel, and Word.
Excellent customer service skills a must!
Demonstrated ability to develop positive working relationships with a diverse group of people.
2-4 years of supervisory experience in a union environment.
Associate or Bachelor's degree.
Familiarity with the OS1 custodial operating system.
Experience with FMS (AIM) Work Management System.
Knowledge of University policies and procedures.
