- Provide expert skill in coordinating the work of clerical support staff and act as the team lead.
- Responsible for the coordination of daily functional supervision for the clerical team.
- Provides interpretation and instruction for policies, procedures and practices.
- Maintains work schedules and assists with performance evaluations for other clerical team members.
- Provides in service training and onboarding for new clerical staff.
- Participates with leadership team to ensure effective clinical operations.
- Promotes and facilitates positive communications with the entire health care team.
- May lead LEAN in dailywork activities
- Ensure support, education and guidance to patients throughout their continuum of care.
- Work collaboratively with call center manager and call center leads to ensure standard work across all areas.
- Flexible to provide clinical support based on workload staffing needs for the day.
- Screen new patients for navigation services.
- Provide support, education and guidance to a patient throughout their continuum of care.
- Proactively build relationship with patients by regular contact with them in order to assist in identifying barriers to care.
- Assist patients navigating them through the complex logistics of the health system.
- Identify and recommend appropriate resources.
- Promote and sustain the ideal patient and family experience in service areas.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 5+ years of work experience.
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
- Demonstrated ability to lead a team or project.
- Experience facilitating and coordinating a patient's continuum of care, as well as, identifying and recommending appropriate resources available.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to work well within team setting.
- Communicates effectively.
- Demonstrates active listening, written, verbal and information technology skills.
- Requires flexibility in all aspects of work assignments.
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Business Adminstration/Health Care or other related field.
- Experience working within a large, complex health care setting.
- Familiarity with UMHS electronic medical record systems.
- Previous experience with LEAN in daily work and or quality improvement activities.
- Knowledge of University policies and procedures.
This position will be Monday - Friday, 40 hours a week, Saturday rotation.
