Job Summary

The Office for Health Equity and Inclusion (OHEI) invites applications for the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Training Specialist.  The Training Specialist Lead will work closely with the Program Manager for DEI in OHEI to implement the education and training strategy for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion for the University of Michigan Academic Medical Center. 

  • Execute education and training for diversity, equity and inclusion
  • Serve as liaison to campus partners and external vendors
  • Facilitate work with leaders, staff and learners
  • Measure and assure program quality and effectiveness
  • Employ change management initiatives in relationship to DEI education

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Build internal relationships to partner the university’s diversity, equity & inclusion initiatives and create training strategies to foster an open and affirming culture for all staff
  • Ensure the DEI education and training in the organization are in alignment with the Academic Medical Center’s mission
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to establish a delivery plan for culture change
  • Cultivate relationships with key stakeholders, leaders and influencers
  • Build collaboration with campus partners and outside vendors to develop and implement formal diversity and awareness programs

Responsibilities*

  • Create educational strategies aimed at building the capabilities, staff, managers, and students across the Academic Medical Center
  • Execute strategic education and training plan for diversity, equity and inclusion for the Academic Medical Center
  • Participate with the DEI-ILG (Inclusive Leadership Group) Metrics team to develop metrics and evaluation plan to measure and assess education and training quality and effectiveness
  • Ensure aligned and strategic vision/execution across Academic Medical Center focused on education and training that will help to create an inclusive climate
  • Establish education and training plan for the AMC DEI Implementation Leads
  • Build internal relationships to partner, foster and create buy-in for the university’s diversity, equity & inclusion education and training initiatives
  • Serve as a consultant, mentor and advisor for DEI education and training
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to establish a delivery system for education and training that will create and sustain positive climate change.
  • Build collaboration with campus partners and outside vendors to develop and implement formal diversity education and training programs
  • Enhance internal partnerships to ensure seamless integration of DEI related education and training into existing platforms, structures and delivery systems
  • Represent the Office for Health Equity and Inclusion (OHEI) as it relates to education to other administrators, outside agencies
  • Attend university campus related DEI education meetings

Required Qualifications*

  • Master Degree in related field or Bachelor’s degree and equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Progressively responsible leadership experience and demonstrated leadership skills
  • 7+ years of experience in program management
  • Ability to work across different functions and build relationships with stakeholders 
  • Ability to clearly articulate and reinforce training strategies and the university’s plan for development diversity
  • Forward-thinking, detailed-oriented and personable with excellent presentation skills
  • Ability to collect, analyze and share data via various mediums
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent management and organizational skills
  • Well-developed writing, editing and proofreading abilities
  • Strong project management skills to handle complex projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work well under pressure, with proven time management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment

Desired Qualifications*

  • Master Degree in Education
  • Knowledge of Academia
  • Previous experience working in the DEI framework strongly preferred
  • Previous supervisory experience

Work Schedule

Monday – Friday 8:00-4:30p

Background Screening
