Job Summary

Postdoctoral Position in Sleep and Anesthesiology

A postdoctoral position is available in a NIH-funded research laboratory to study the mechanistic underpinnings of interactions between sleep homeostasis and sedation. The applicant should have a PhD or MD with a strong background in behavioral neuroscience/sleep neurobiology and a proven track record of productivity as evident through published research articles. Working knowledge of rodent stereotactic survival surgeries, electroencephalography, and immunofluorescent staining is required. Proficiency in cell biology and biochemistry, and prior experience with Opto- and pharmacogenetics is highly desirable. The research project requires extensive use of high performance liquid chromatography and microdialysis for which the training can be provided. The successful candidate is expected to have excellent oral and written communication skills, and a strong enthusiasm for learning and developing new experimental approaches.

Required Qualifications*

PhD or MD required. The position is open to new graduates and anyone with 1-2 years of postdoctoral experience. Compensation will be commensurate with the NIH and the University of Michigan Medical School guidelines.
