Job Summary

The Fabiilli lab, which is part of the Basic Radiological Sciences Division within the Department of Radiology at the University of Michigan, is seeking a postdoctoral research fellow.  The Fabiilli lab develops ultrasound-based, drug delivery strategies.  This open position is supported by an NIH project investigating the delivery of pro-angiogenic growth factors for the treatment of cardiovascular disease. The goal of the research is to understand how spatiotemporal gradients, doses, and sequences of pro-angiogenic growth factors impact blood vessel growth in in vitro and in vivo models. The project utilizes implantable scaffolds where growth factor delivery is non-invasively controlled both spatially and temporally using focused ultrasound.   Non-invasive imaging will be used in conjunction with standard histological techniques to evaluate the growth of the newly formed vessels. Responsibilities*

The postdoctoral fellow will be responsible for planning and executing experiments, managing and mentoring students, preparing manuscripts, contributing to grant proposals, presenting at conferences, and interacting with collaborators.

Required Qualifications*

  • PhD in Biomedical Engineering or related field
  • Demonstrated expertise with at least ONE of the following:
    • Therapeutic ultrasound
    • Biomaterials for therapeutic angiogenesis
  • At least two first-author papers published in peer-reviewed, international journals
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English

Desired Qualifications*

  • Demonstrated experience with mammalian cell culture, preclinical rodent models (i.e., mice), and hydrogel scaffolds
  • Demonstrated experience with rodent surgery
