Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced MPH or MSW to join our team undertaking a 5 year NIDDK funded randomized controlled trial to be conducted by the Ann Arbor based research team at the Ann Arbor NCRC offices and the University of Michigan Ypsilanti Family Medicine Clinic. The research project will address the need for creative approaches to enhance the capacity of high-risk populations to gain the information and decision support necessary for more active participation in their health care.  We will evaluate whether patients at risk for developing diabetes, primarily minority patients in Ypsilanti meeting criteria for pre-diabetes diagnosis, are able to more effectively make decisions about their health behavior when supported by another patient who is successfully managing their own healthcare and has been trained to provide ongoing coaching.  The intervention will involve training Peer Coaches to provide services to the patients meeting pre-diabetes eligibility criteria.

The person in this position will function as an integral member of the research team that develops, implements and analyzes the intervention.
