The University of Michigan-Flint seeks a dynamic individual to assist with recruitment efforts for transfer students at Mott Community College. This position, Recruitment Officer, is temporary will be primarily responsible for assisting with recruitment strategies to increase enrollment from Mott Community College to the University of Michigan Flint. As the Recruitment Officer, this person will build and strengthen relationships with prospective transfer students. This position focuses on recruiting students who are academically prepared and excited about becoming part of a community of diverse learners and scholars.
The Recruitment Officer will meet with prospective transfer students and answer questions regarding enrollment at the University. This position is temporary and will be housed 4 days per week at Mott Community College. This person must have both the desire and passion to engage in significant interpersonal communications with prospective students over the phone, as well as in-person and through e-mail. The preferred candidate will possess outstanding communication skills, be an effective team player, and excellent organizer to handle multiple tasks.
Responsible for supporting the Undergraduate Office of Admissions with recruitment activities at Mott Community College. Direct the day to day operations of recruitment growth consistent with UM-Flint Admissions and University goals. Coordinate with admissions staff, academic advisors, departments, and offices across the UM-Flint campus.
Build and strengthen relationships with prospective transfer students to help increase yield. Support the University’s mission of building an academically excellent and diverse educational community. Coordinate visitation and appointments for students with University’s admissions staff and academic advisors. Advise students on admissions preparation, educational opportunities, and academic requirements at UM-Flint. Meet with students and parents in small groups or individually. Interpret University admissions policies and procedures. Provide assistance and answer questions regarding admissions requirements, academic programs, and student life either in person, via phone or via email. Provide liaison services to other UM-Flint offices including financial aid, housing, orientation, or specific school and colleges.
Work with the processing team to support the process and document flow. Make consistent recommendations abiding by UM-Flint and specific school/college guidelines. Serve as the primary admissions liaison for Mott Community College.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and meet multiple deadlines. Must have strong organization skills. Knowledge of various recruiting principles and strategies. Strong oral and written communication skills. Proven ability to operate independently and make independent decisions.
