The Vivian A. and James L. Curtis Research Center at the University of Michigan School of Social Work is accepting applications for a one-year to two-year postdoctoral program. The initial appointment will be for one year and will be renewed for a second year if the candidate is making good progress towards the goals of the position.
The postdoctoral program emphasizes a multidisciplinary approach to training and to developing social work academics to assume leadership in research focused on underserved populations. The selected fellow will partner with externally-funded faculty mentor(s) and matched by areas of interest and methodological expertise.
Every year the postdoctoral program accepts applications from candidates whose research agendas fall within different areas of interest, such as health, mental health, child welfare, and others. For the 2018-19 period, we are looking specifically for candidates whose interests include translational (research-to-practice) and implementation research; health disparities in infectious diseases (e.g., HIV, STIs); and interprofessional collaboration and integrated health. We encourage behavioral and social science researchers looking to sharpen their skills in CBPR and mixed methods research.
Our program builds on the interdisciplinary strength of research in the University of Michigan. The successful candidate will be mentored by experienced senior investigators; trained in academic and grantsmanship writing (e.g., NIH, private foundations, etc.); and network/collaborate with researchers, community stakeholders, and practitioners across disciplines. Fellows have full access to resources of the School of Social Work and the University of Michigan – a rich interdisciplinary environment with seminars, invited lectures, and opportunities for collaboration with faculty across disciplines and departments.
The postdoctoral position offers a stipend, health insurance, vacation, sick leave, and travel and meeting benefits. We especially invite and encourage applications from members of ethnic and racial minority groups. The University of Michigan is a non-discriminatory/affirmative action employer.
Job openings are posted for a minimum of seven calendar days. This job may be removed from posting boards and filled anytime after the minimum posting period has ended.
