We are looking for a personable, self-motivated and detail-oriented team player/leader to help with recruitment of participants in a federally-funded research study conducted out of the Hurley Medical Center Emergency Department in Flint, Michigan.
This person will identify and approach potential participants entering the Hurley Medical Center ER for a federally funded research study. Consent participants, and conduct brief clinical interventions using motivational interviewing and 30 day time line follow back with all eligible participants in the ED setting. In addition, this person will locate participants by phone contacts, letters and home visits to participants or other primary contacts as needed. Schedule and conduct remote therapy sessions in the office and surround Flint area. Utilize a tablet computer to administer survey and determine randomization in the ED. Document accurately flow of shifts, adhere to all recruitment procedures and communicate daily/weekly updates to study coordinator. Other duties include: perform and document risk assessments, CPS reports, document shift events and tracking data; follow all recruitment and intervention procedures; complete daily paperwork accurately and in a timely manner. Provide nightly/weekly shift summaries to the study coordinator. Enter and clean data in ACCESS database.
Requires a bachelor's or master's degree in Social Sciences (i.e. Social Work, Psychology) or related field.
Qualities the candidate should possess: reliability, attention to detail, ability to get along with others in a close working environment, ability to work on a team and provide support to teammates, excellent attendance, responsive and demonstrates ability to problem solve and take initiative; manage priorities independently; excellent customer-service and communication. Experience working with Microsoft Office, Outlook, and ACCESS databases. Knowledge of HIPPA rules and regulations. Some clinical experience or training using Motivational Interviewing techniques and experience with substance abuse treatment is desirable. Experience working randomized control trials in an Emergency Room setting is helpful. Experience working on multidisciplinary team.
Part-time between 20 and 30 hours per week. Shifts do rotate to cover all 7 days of the week (Sun-Mon), ~4p-2a (hours will change based on study needs)
