This position supports clinical research efforts in the area of Child Psychiatry. We are looking for an ambitious, detail oriented, team member for our research program in Pediatric Anxiety Disorders. Interests should align with the care of pediatric populations, neuroimaging, and mental health research. Anticipated start date would be late spring/summer of 2018.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Recruitment and screening efforts to identify eligible research subjects to participate as both healthy controls and anxious youth
- Frequent interaction with participant families and other research team members to schedule upcoming research assessments and answer questions
- Conducting the informed consent process with participants and their guardians
- Obtain study measures, either in self-report format or brief interpersonal assessments. Candidate will be responsible for tracking and coordinating all study timepoints and ensuring data is gathered from enrolled participants throughout their participation in the study.
- Monitor and conduct mock fMRI scans as well as assist in the data collection and running of actual fMRI scan. Preferred applicants will have an understanding of fMRI imaging and safety protocols, pre-processing and of basic Linux command line, MatLab and / or Statistical Parametric Mapping software.
- Data analysis and data entry into online research database. Preferred candidates will be able to independently develop and maintain RedCap and Qualtrics databases, conduct data quality checks, import and export data for reporting and maintenance. Manipulation and tracking of data into useable reports (e.g. Excel graphs) is also expected.
- Ability to work on short-term projects as requested.
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, neurobiology, or a related field.
- 1-2 years of research experience with children as young as age 7.
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Strong problem solving skills and ability to work efficiently and manage multiple projects / tasks at once.
- Some flexibility in schedule is necessary for the role, including weekends and evenings.
- Proficiency in Qualtrics, RedCap and Excel, including database building and management, exporting / importing data, data entry.
- Experience conducting fMRI studies, including experience working with fMRI technicians to run fMRI scans and ability to facilitate getting children in the scanner and acclimated.
- Experience with statistics and statistical packages such as SPSS. Able to run and interpret statistical analyses such as correlations and T Tests.
- Ability to work well in team environment as well as independently is required.
M-F, 9-5 with flexibility to accommodate participant needs outside of these hours, including evenings and weekends. At least one weekend per month is to be expected.
