The Building & Event Assistant responsibilities will be as follows:
Ensure successful event coordination, respond to last-minute requests and serve as an intermediary between the customer, student staff, and catering staff, as well as various other University departments effected by events.
Provide excellent customer service for students, faculty, staff, and external users.
Work closely with evening and weekend events to ensure a positive experience for the customer.
Provide supervision of EBS-related operations (meeting/event space, information centers, catering, etc.) in various locations on campus during assigned work shifts. Complete administrative tasks associated with building needs including facilities reports, schedules, equipment, etc.
Ensure the safety and security of patrons, employees, facilities and equipment including locking and unlocking facilities areas.
Inspect building facilities and equipment, recommend improvements, and submit work orders.
Interact with diverse clientele in a way that enhances understanding and respect while developing smooth working relationships, and effectively managing conflict.
Assist with departmental projects.
Functionally supervise student staff.
Assist with overall EBS needs.
Work schedules will vary depending on scheduled events/activities. Work shifts will include evenings and weekends, with some day shifts to accomodate scheduling meetings and office coverage. Work schedules will be adjusted to provide supervision at extended evening and weekend events.
1 year of Customer service experience and the ability to identify and deliver customer needs in an effective and positive manner.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills that result in information that is clearly conveyed and understood.
Flexibility of schedule that will meet the needs of the varying events the department coordinates. This position will not have a regular schedule and may include early morning and late evening hours.

Experience with Event Management Systems (EMS)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
