Job Summary

A postdoctoral fellow position is available in a basic research laboratory at the UM Department of Dermatology. The focus of the lab is to investigate the role of skin stem cells and their differentiated progeny in hair follicle development, wound healing and skin cancer. Particular attention will be paid to the Hedghog, Wnt and Notch signaling pathways, utilizing techniques such as in vivo fate mapping/lineage tracing, immunohistochemistry, and gene expression analysis.

Responsibilities*

Independent research focused on in vivo skin development and disease

Possible supervision of students in the lab

Required Qualifications*

PhD in a biology-related field, and a minimum of one accepted first-author publication in a high-or mid-tier journal. We are interested in individuals with diverse experiences in basic research, who think deeply and creatively, who work independently, and are passionate about their studies.

Desired Qualifications*

The candidate should have at least 1 first-author publication in any of the following journals:  Cell, Cell Reports, Cell Stem Cell, Cancer Cell, Developmental Cell, Development, eLIFE, EMBOJ, EMBO Molecular Medicine, Genes & Development, Journal of Cell Biology, Journal of Clinical Investigation, Journal of Investigative Dermatology, PLOS Biology, PLOS Genetics, PNAS, Nature, Nature Cell Biology, Nature Genetics, Nature Medicine, Nature Communications, Science
