Job Summary

The Ravitz Cancer Center Research Unit Registered Nurse is accountable for the delivery of direct patient care to patients participating in Oncology Clinical trials. The Ravitz CCRU Registered Nurse (RN) supports professional nursing practice across practice settings and across the continuum of care to meet the needs of the patient and family; assesses the needs of the patient undergoing cancer treatment as part of a Clinical Trial; plans, implements, and evaluates patient care according to research requirements and patient needs; and ensures protocol compliance.


The RN administers injections, IV hydration, blood products, investigational agents, and chemotherapy.
The RN may work in in both the Ravitz Cancer Center Research Unit and/or the Cancer Center Adult Infusion area depending on patient acuity and census.

This UMPNC RN posting is posted as Nursing Framework LEVEL C, B inc.
Actual Nursing Framework LEVEL and salary will be determined at time of hire.
Nursing Framework levels range from Level A to Level E.

Required Qualifications*

Current licensure as a Registered Nurse to practice in the State of Michigan

One (1) or more years of recent chemotherapy infusion RN experience

One (1) or more years of recent hematology/oncology RN experience

Demonstrated ability to practice independently, set goals, promote teamwork, coordinate and perform multiple activities and problem solve as measured by interview, references, and performance evaluations

Demonstrated ability to set and implement priorities, organize and delegate effectively and efficiently

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and communicate well with others (including peers)

Demonstrated abilities in interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills and problem solving skill within all levels of the health care team: as evidenced by interviews, documentation , written skills and references.

Proven self-direction ability including: initiative and creativity

Work Schedule

Hours: 40 hours/ week-Flexibility required; 8 and 10hr shifts
Shift: Day hours will vary: Monday - Friday with occasional holidays. **Hours of operation for the Ravitz Cancer Center Research Unit are 8:00 am to 7:00 pm. and the hours for the Adult Infusion Clinic are 7:30 am to 8:30 pm.  Flexibility will be required as this is dual unit position.

Location: University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center-Cancer Center Research Unit and Adult Infusion Clinic. 

All new employees will be expected to float to a designated unit(s) in times of low census
