This position reports to the Director of Planning in the Michigan Medicine Strategic Planning and Business Development Department (SPBD). Thi sposition will be responsible for planning analyses to support senior Strategic Planning staff, clinical and administrative leaders, and planning projects. May conduct special studies in areas such as patient origin, market share, demographic, market, and competitor analyses. May create documents to communicate planning information. Knows and applies the fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of particular field of specialization. Under supervision, performs work that is varied and that may be somewhat difficult in character. Some evaluation, originality or ingenuity is required. This position requires 1-3 years professional healthcare experience. Employees in this classification typically analyze, compare and evaluate various courses of action and have the authority to make independent decisions on matters of significance, free from immediate direction, within the scope of their responsibilities. Primary activities and decision making authority are predominantly performed independently affecting business operations to a substantial degree. Under FLSA, this is the exempt job classification for this title. Incumbents in this position must meet the full criteria for exempt status: salary level, salary basis, and duties tests.
Work on strategic projects are conducted for Michigan Medicine leadership and partners in support of decision making. Some projects involve coordination and collaboration among multiple entities within Michigan Medicine as well as strateic partners.
Specific activities include:
- Summarizing population demographics, patient oriigin, market share, competition benchmarking and demand forecasting.
- Develop quantitative methods and models to project key MIchigan Medicine and partners resources, including faculty, staff and physicial capacity, and perform sensitivity and scenario analyses.
- Prepare organization briefs/thought pieces on long term environmental factors and their potential effects on the Health System (e.g. public policy, payer trend, clinical techology, workforces, etc.).
- Prepare and present project deliverable in a clear, actionable manner to support Michigan Medicine and partner leaders' decision-making.
Participate in quality improvement effort to improve the department's service and products, including standard methods, data tools and analytics. This includes representing out institution with other partners and organizations.

- Bachelor degree in appropriate descipline and at least 1-3 years relevant experience.
- Strong written and oral communication skills are mandatory.
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team.
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative and tolerate a moderate degree of ambiguity is required.
- Demonstrated project managment skills and experience is required, including manageing multiple projects and addressing emerging priorities simultaneously.
- Strong background in Microsoft Excel and Access.
