How to Apply

To Apply:  Email a letter of application, complete curriculum vitae, and a list of five references (letters are not required at this time), to: Add “Marching Band” to the subject heading of your email.  Application deadline:  March 20, 2018.



Appointment Dates:    August 1, 2018 – April 30, 2019; interim    

Duties:  The Interim Associate Director’s primary responsibilities include assisting in the teaching and the preparation of the University of Michigan Marching Band; conducting the University of Michigan Men's Basketball Band; and conducting non-music major concert ensembles.  Additional duties include assisting and supporting all aspects of the athletic band program in conjunction with the Director of University Bands and the Director of the Michigan Marching Band; writing marching drills for the Michigan Marching Band; teaching a marching band techniques course; possible additional conducting and/or teaching of conducting as needed.

Required Qualifications*

Master’s degree in conducting or music education is a minimum requirement.  Progress toward the DMA is preferred.  Candidates must have experience and evidence of leadership roles as part of a college athletic band program, exemplary skills in drill writing, and demonstrated concert band conducting ability.
