Job Summary

Minimum salary for this position is $3,413 per course.  The Department of Communication Studies at the University of Michigan-Flint seeks a Lecturer 1 for the Fall 2018 semester to teach two courses of COM 210: Introduction to Public Speaking. Both of these sections are designated for students in UM-Flint’s Promise Scholar Program. Housed in our Office of Educational Opportunity Initiatives, the Promise Scholar Program utilizes a special admissions process to serve students from the Flint community and beyond by providing a supportive environment dedicated to academic success, personal development and community engagement. As a result, the department is especially interested in candidates who embrace a teaching style rooted in mentorship, coaching and skills development for students. Experience teaching a diverse student population is highly desired. There is a possibility of teaching other classes in the candidate’s areas of expertise in the Winter 2019 semester.

Required Qualifications*

  • Master’s Degree or higher in Communication
  • Demonstrated record of teaching excellence at the college level

This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Lecturers Employee Organization, AFL-CIO, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
