The Department of Cardiac Surgery, Michigan Medicine, is recruiting a full-time assistant research scientist. Job duties include, but are not limited to, three days in the lab conducting experiments and two days a week in academic activity such as compiling data, teaching and mentoring students and residents in the lab, preparing manuscripts, writing grant applications and presenting results.
Research responsibilities will be based at the Extracorporeal Life Support Research Laboratory at the University of Michigan Medical School.
Qualified candidates will have expertise in adult cardiac surgery, cardiopulmonary perfusion, and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation and a commitment to scientific pursuits in basic science and translational research.
The candidate must be a PhD graduate of an American medical school or its equivalent, and have a background in Cardiothoracic Surgery. A record of publications in relevant scientific journals is required.
