A research lab technician and lab manager is sought to work in a Molecular Biology lab pursuing basic science. The lab studies animal development, cell-cell signaling pathways, and the regulation of gene expression patterns, using Drosophila as a model system. The lab website is: https://www.barololab.net/
This position will be primarily focused on laboratory research in molecular and developmental biology and genetics, under the supervision of the lab head or a postdoctoral fellow. Lab manager duties are another responsibility of the position. These include, but may not be limited to: ordering supplies, maintaining fly lines, facilitating lab inspections, supervising new lab members, training undergraduate researchers, and generally organizing lab activity. Because the lab is small and requires relatively little management, bench research will be the primary focus of this position, though both sides of the job are important.
The candidate should have a HS Diploma or Associate’s Degree; however, a Bachelor’s Degree is preferred. The candidate should be familiar with basic concepts in Molecular Biology, and should have outstanding organizational skills. 1-3 years of laboratory experience is required, preferably in Molecular Biology, including DNA cloning. The selected candidate will be able to pay attention to detail, have excellent recordkeeping, and an ability to learn from mistakes are essential. In addition, the candidate must have good communication skills, cooperate well with co-workers, and bring a positive attitude to the workplace. Must treat co-workers with respect and expect the same in return.
Bachelor’s degree in a science related field.
