Job Summary

The School of Kinesiology Sport Management program at the University of Michigan invites applications for a new faculty position of clinical assistant professor.  This position will begin in the fall 2018 semester.  Candidates will have an expectation of teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses in the Sport Management program, as well as service to the school.  The teaching load will consist of six courses over two semesters*.  Specific service responsibilities will be based on the identified candidate and their unique professional / industry expertise.  Salary is commensurate with education and experience.

The School of Kinesiology ( is one of 19 independent academic units within the University of Michigan. The School is led by a Dean and has 5 clinical track faculty, over 30 tenure-line faculty and approximately 1,000 students. The School of Kinesiology includes research disciplines in sport management, biomechanics, motor control, exercise physiology, athletic training, and health and fitness. *NOTE: This teaching load assumes a U-Year or nine (9) month appointment.  Depending on the identified candidate, the position may be set up as either a U-Year or a 12-month appointment.

Required Qualifications*

Applicants should demonstrate expertise from significant industry experience and/or teaching experience in one or more of the following sport management-related areas:  digital and social media marketing, brand management and advertising, and/or sales.

A master's degree coupled with extensive industry experience is required, with preference given to applicants with an earned terminal degree.
