The University of Michigan Investment Office seeks an entry-level Investment Analyst to provide support for the oversight and management of the University’s investment portfolios. You will become part of the Investment Analyst Program, a multi-year developmental program which involves rotation through different areas and with different staff. Starting salary for the Analyst Program is $60K plus incentive bonus, with meaningful increases for successful progression.
Duties include: to prepare investment reports on performance, asset allocation and risk characteristics of portfolios; investment research; liaison with consultants and custodian bank staff; support operations; identify and resolve standard investment accounting, performance measurement and compliance issues; initiate fund transfers and monitor fund additions, withdrawals and distributions; monitor external managers including the analysis of portfolios, staffing, investment performance and compliance with guidelines; assist in determining the selection of investment managers; document management. Some travel will be required.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree; an understanding of and interest in investing; strong quantitative and verbal skills; a proven ability to create and utilize complex spreadsheets; a demonstrated attention to detail and a collaborative work style. Exposure to investment analysis is desired. A basic analytical skills test (up to 2 hours allowed) will be required as part of the interview process.
