What skills would you master?

•         You’ll independently perform physiologic and manometric testing with patients as well as more advanced procedures, like gastrointestinal intubation.

•         Working with our GI Team, you'll perform diagnostic tests proficiently, according to defined Lab procedure/protocols.

•         You will have the opportunity provide physical and emotional support for patients and families undergoing procedures.

•         You’ll be responsible to respond promptly to patient needs and changes in condition, including promptly informing MD/RN/Clinical Management of patient care requirements outside your scope of practice.

•         In addition, your lab-specific work will include consistent adhesion to policies and protocols, maintaining computer and equipment proficiency, and keeping areas stocked with appropriate supplies.

•         You will manage solutions, reagents, operates, and trouble shoot laboratory equipment.

•         You’ll also calibrate, operate and trouble-shoot laboratory equipment.

•         Our Lab Technicians are dynamic, flexible and dependable. We serve highly acute patients and are prepared to respond appropriately at all times.

Required Qualifications*

•         Patient Care experience as a patient care technician/medical assistant or endoscopy technician.

•         Computer literacy/proficiency.

•         Our Lab Technicians are integral to the success of our GI team and we are looking for individuals with great communication skills, the ability to think analytically, multi-task and consistently work positively in a multidisciplinary team setting.

Desired Qualifications*

•         BS degree in health or biological sciences.

•         College-level physiology coursework.

•         Clinical laboratory experience.

•         Intubation experience.

•         Proficiency with venipuncture including starting IV’s.

•         Coursework or experience with statistics.

Work Locations

Michigan Medicine GI Lab with the potential to travel to other OR facilities.

Additional Information

Physical Requirements

•         Physical ability to be on your feet most of the day, with a lot of time spent talking, standing, stretching. Lifting and pushing necessary to move equipment or transfer/move patients.
