As a Clinical Laboratory Assistant with Michigan Medicine, you will be an integral member of our Neurology Polysomnography (Sleep) Team. Your primary goal will be to support the Sleep Health Team in the cleaning, high-level disinfection and set up of equipment. Responsibilities*

What skills would you use?

  • You will ensure the cleanliness and disinfection of patient rooms and specialized Sleep Lab equipment.
  • On a daily basis, you’ll attend to overnight patient rooms to straighten up and collect questionnaires.
  • You will have daily lab responsibilities in the Soiled Utility Room. This will include sorting, cleaning, sterilizing and organizing equipment like CPAP masks, Thermistors and RIP modules.
  • In addition, you will stock and set up individual patient rooms according to an outlined checklist.
  • When time allows, you will assist in daily projects and assignments from the Lab Manager.
  • On a monthly basis, you’ll attend to the maintenance of specialized lab equipment, changing filters, cycling out batteries and changing Metricide.

Required Qualifications*

High school diploma with basic science course work or an equivalent combination of education and experience is necessary.

Physical Requirements

This position requires moderate standing/walking, as well as lifting, positioning, pushing, and/or transferring of equipment.

Desired Qualifications*

Previous experience in a hospital laboratory and basic knowledge of computers is desirable.

Work Schedule

Days and nights with the flexibility to accommodate evenings and weekends.
