Communcations support and other administrative duties for the Value Based Insurance Design Center.  Find more at


Communications Related Duties include but are not limited to: manage uploading and updating website content provided by program leadership, currently via Wordpress; design web pages/posts for events, news and press releases using code and previously established formatting as directed; assist with existing social media and communications outreach through platforms such as Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn; Use Hootsuite and TweetDeck to post to social media platforms as directed; Produce newsletter and press release emails in Constant Contact to be sent to over 10,000 contacts as directed; produce social media and promotional materials as direted using Piktochart, GoAnimate, and video editing; edit infographics, animated videos, or comics produced by and for the Center as directed; assist with development of graphical elements through photo editing, enhancing, and designing
Administrative Duties include but are not limited to:  Provide phone coverage when needed; manage Director's calendar and assist with scheduling meetings - prepare meeting materials as appropriate; Coordinate and arrange travel for the Director and other Center staff as needed.  Create detailed travel itineraries for Center Director. Prepare concur reimbursement reports and PCard reconciliations for Center Director, Business manager, and other V-BID staff. Prepare travel expense reimbursement reports to outside organizations when appropriate. Keep detailed records of reimbursements for auditing purposes
Events: Under general supervision by the Business Manager, assist with V-BID Center events, including: Smaller events such as tweetchats, webinars, sponsor luncheons, staff meetings, and internal speaker presentations and larger events such as the annual 2-day fall symposium (which involves extensive preparation and extra hours outside of normal business hours) and Policy Briefings in state & federal capitals
Other tasks as directed by the Center Business Manager 

Required Qualifications*

High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  Demonstrated ability to work effectively with staff, faculty, and students from diverse backgrounds.  Demonstrated skill with Outlook calendaring, Concur, Microsoft Office software and ability to learn complex software, such as constant contact, piktochart, GoAnimate, and video editing.  Must be able to take direction from several different people, prioritize tasks with conflicting deadlines, handle frequent interruptions, meet deadlines and demonstrate flexibility when priorities and deadlines must change. Must have excellent organizational skills, accuracy and attention to detail.  High level of effective oral and written communication skills required. Ability to exercise considerable respect, discretion, initiative, independent judgment, diplomacy, and consistently demonstrate a positive service-oriented attitude.  Ability to assist people calmly in stressful situations and matters of a sensitive and confidential nature a must.

Desired Qualifications*

Bachelors degree preferred.  Knowledge of University policies and procedures and 3+ years experience in an academic unit are desired.  Demonstrated success and 2-4 years experience in planning and coordinating events for a diverse community.  Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work both independently and as a collaborative team member with faculty, staff, students, and outside constituents.  Experience with website maintenance a plus.

Additional Information

THIS IS A 1 YEAR TERM LIMITED POSITION.  As the VBID Center explores new ways to grow, this position is needed and has the available funding for one year.  If funding and work remain after one year, this position may be extended.
