Job Summary

We are looking for a personable, self-motivated and detail-oriented team player/leader to help with recruitment of participants in a federally-funded research study conducted out of the Hurley Medical Center Emergency Department in Flint, Michigan.


The incumbents responsibilities will include:

  • Screen electronic medical records to identify eligible study participants.
  • Approach and consent potential participants in the Emergency Department according to research protocols and schedule clinical research related procedures in accordance with good clinical practice guidelines.
  • Conduct clinical interventions with eligible participants.
  • Conduct suicide risk assessments following study risk assessment protocol.
  • Attend weekly clinical supervision. Prepare for supervision by listening to therapy tapes and practicing MI/CBT techniques with other recruitment team members. Report to study coordinator fidelity procedures.
  • Complete daily paperwork accurately in a timely manner. Enter and clean data in ACCESS.
  • Track daily/weekly recruitment flow, create daily/weekly reports to be sent to the project coordinator or project manager at the end of each shift.
  • Any other duties deemed necessary to maintain the smooth operation of the research program

Required Qualifications*

Requires a bachelor's or master's degree in Social Sciences (i.e. Social Work, Psychology)or related field.

Desired Qualifications*

Qualities the candidate should possess: reliability, attention to detail, ability to get along with others in a close working environment, ability to work on a team and provide support to teammates, excellent attendance, responsive and demonstrates ability to problem solve and take initiative; manage priorities independently; excellent customer-service and communication.   Experience working with Microsoft Office, Outlook, and ACCESS databases.   Knowledge of HIPPA rules and regulations. Some clinical experience or training using Motivational Interviewing techniques and experience with substance abuse treatment is desirable. Experience working randomized control trials in an Emergency Room setting is helpful. Experience working on multidisciplinary team.

Work Schedule

Part-time between 20 and 30 hours per week. Shifts do rotate to cover all 7 days of the week (Sun-Mon), ~4p-2a (hours will change based on study needs)
