Job Summary

Function as part of a team to manage patient flow and assist with clinic infusion patient needs at UMH Taubman Infusion Center, Ambulatory Diagnostic Treatment Unit and East Ann Arbor Infusion Center.


Duties include but are not limited to the following: Obtain and record patient information such as vital signs, height and weight. Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record. Check-in patients for procedures/infusions using MiChart. Assist care providers with procedures, patient transfers and ambulation. Prepare patient based on infusion protocol and assist patient when appropriate. Prepare, organize and maintain patient rooms with appropriate equipment and supplies at beginning, end of day and between patients. ADTU requires a diverse skill set. Prepare point of care lab testing, pulse oximetry, nebulizers, EKGs, etc. Assist in the vascular procedure room for IV start and PICC placement. Administer approved medications per ACS MA delegation guidelines. Collaborate with nursing and providers for optimal patient care delivery. Maintain required competencies, actively participate in staff meetings and mandatory training and assist in training new MA float staff.


Required Qualifications*

High school diploma or GED and 0-1 years of related experience. Experience with clinic medical office or other Ambulatory Care setting. Graduation from a Medical Assistant Program or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Knowledge of basic medical terminology, moderate standing/walking, as well as lifting, positioning, pushing and/or transferring patients. Excellent interpersonal skills and customer relations. Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team in addition to being able to work with minimal supervision. Communicates effectively, demonstrates active listening, written, verbal and information technology skills. Competence in venipuncture, EKGs, computer usage, telephone etiquette and other office procedures. History of excellent attendance and punctuality. Ability to take initiative in identifying, acting and following through on problems and tasks.


Desired Qualifications*

Additional formal education in a health care field, certification as a Medical Assistant, experience working within a large, complex health care setting, familiarity with UMHS electronic medical records systems, and knowledge of University policies and procedures.
