The Tewari lab currently has opportunities available for new postdoctoral researchers who are inspired by research developing new approaches for individualized healthcare. This includes both wet lab bench research as well as bioinformatics and computational analysis.
We are looking for postdocs interested in the following areas:
-Developing and applying new next generation sequencing, digital PCR, and other approaches for early detection of cancer. These include developing transrenal DNA in urine and extracellular RNA in plasma as new cancer biomarker approaches.
-Developing and applying bioinformatic methods and pipelines for analysis of next generation sequencing data from cell free DNA and RNA
The lab takes an interdisplinary approach to research, including collaborations with groups in chemistry and engineering, as well as a range of clinical collaborators.
Ph.D or MD degree
Potential candidates are expected to work independently under the direction of the PI in designing and conducting their own research experiments. Candidates will interface with lab staff, working collaboratively with the lab manager and technicians as needed on different aspects of research projects. Other responsibilities include keeping up to date on current literature, participating in lab meetings, keeping an up to date and detailed lab notebook, and writing protocols and papers. Candidates are expected to contribute towards projects belonging to the lab at large as well as their individual research projects. Opportunities for training and supervising undergraduate and graduate students exists.
Preference will be given to individuals with experience in next generation sequencing on Illumina platform, extensive quantitative PCR using real time and digital technologies, or in the development and maintenance of animal models. Preference will also be given to individuals with strong bioinformatics skills including experience with Linux OS, and programming with Python or Perl.
