Logistics, Transportation & Parking department, Parking Operations and Maintenance unit has a temporary opening for a Parking Maintenance Worker.
This position works outdoors in parking lots and structures. Conditions may be hot, cold, wet, snowy, dirty and dusty.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:
Operate power equipment, tools and machinery including pick-up trucks, loaders, riding sweepers, scrubbers, vacuuming equipment, hand blowers, air and electric concrete hammers, drill presses, and other motorized vehicles and equipment.
Clean and maintain parking lots and structures:
Replace lights and clean light fixtures and covers. Collect, haul and dispose of refuse and debris. Sweep, mop, strip and wax stairwells, elevator cars and lobby areas using hand and mechanical cleaning and scrubbing equipment. Wash walls, windows, doors, ceilings, handrails, barricades, signs and stairwells. Install, repair, replace and maintain parking pre-cast curbs. Paint and seal pre-cast curbs, barricades, and other parking surfaces. Control weeds and other vegetation using hand tools, weed whips and sprays.
Remove ice and snow from walks, drives, parking lots, steps, ramps, structures and building entrances using truck mounted snow plows, power brooms, blowers, blades, buckets, truck mounted deicing equipment, vehicular powered spreaders and sprayers, and a variety of hand operated tools.
Erect street and pedestrian barricades. Clean assigned work areas and equipment.
The successful applicant must possess the following:
- Three years or more work experience operating landscape, snow removal or construction equipment.
- Two years or more work experience plowing snow and deicing using a minimum ½-ton plow-equipped truck and truck-mounted spreader equipment.
- A valid driver’s license and excellent driving record.
- Successful completion of an equipment operation skills test.
