Job Summary

The Department of Near Eastern Studies at the University of Michigan invites applications for a full-time (100%) lecturer position in Arabic Language, beginning September 1, 2018. This is a benefits-eligible position.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, teaching two sections of First and/or Second Year Arabic. Due to the replacement nature of this appointment, funding for this position will only be available for Fall 2018 and Winter 2019.

Required Qualifications*

Applicants must have a demonstrated understanding of and ability to use a proficiency-based, communicative methodology in their teaching. Minimum requirement is a graduate degree (MA) in foreign language teaching or equivalent field.

Desired Qualifications*

Applicants should have Superior level fluency in Standard Arabic and English, and a dialect of Arabic, in addition to experience in teaching Arabic at the post-secondary level.

This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Lecturers Employee Organization, AFL-CIO, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
